As the academic year ended and we said farewell to another Year 11 class, it was the divine decree of Allah (SWT) that we didn’t have the usual hustle and bustle of parents, students and teachers gathering together at the Annual Islamic Studies Graduation ceremony. But with sad endings comes new beginnings.
As Shaykh Sulayman Van Ael reminded us, during these testing times it is an opportunity for us to be grateful for what we have and to show patience for what is to come. Alhamdullilah, we had another opportunity to see the girls qualify with their LNS Islamic Studies diplomas. I am very proud of what this group of girls achieved over their 5 years here. The class of 2020 achieved an honourable five distinctions and five merits between them. Well done girls! A special congratulations to Fatima and Ruqaya who achieved 1st and 2nd place respectively.
During their time they studied the fine details of Jurisprudence; covered classical as well as contemporary issues in Theology; studied the blessed Hadith; learnt about the diseases of the heart and virtuous actions. We delved into the details of the Seerah of the blessed Prophet, sallalAllahu alayhi wa sallam, his companions, the pious predecessors, as well as looking at some of the great women of this Ummah.
As Malcolm said ‘In order to be great people, you have to know the great people you once were’.
May Allah make these girls great Muslim women who will inspire others, love Allah and be loved by Allah. Ameen.
